grey
and i can’t think of anything to pour from this pen to this paper
as i watch the rain turn into tiny rivers on foggy glass windows
my mind whirls, spinning out dust
and the days fade in to one an other.
2007
I am a disaster area, a catastrophe.
Wrap the yellow danger tape around me like an embrace,
and don’t forget to keep your distance.
This is all rough edges and tearstained cheeks,
shaking hands and sad smiles.
I am a car wreck and you were the driver.
Sift through this mess of carnage,
and be careful not to cut your hands on
the glass shards; the remians of my heart.
This is only lonliness and heartbreak,
comatose silence and tragic apathy.
Please, waste a little sympathy on me.
And please, let me find solace in everthing that isn’t you.
Somebody hold me, I’m a terrible mess.
Because your heart beats,
in favour of my absensce.
sparks on your tongue
rise and fall
shallow breaths, arching backs
hazy streams shine from city lights
through open curtains onto the bed
cigarette smoke curls and hangs heavy
music hums in time and tune with
broken words punctuated by soft sighs
kick the sheets to the floor
we are bare boned and pale skinned
trace patterns on my thighs
and i’ll dance across your collarbones
tangled limbs, busy lips
lazy strokes, we have all night
young hearts
You’re so beautiful.
Lit by one part street lights,
And two parts dashboard
Let’s take the long way home tonight
We can go on a date with
The highway and the stars
The moon is shining just for us
With our fingers intertwined,
And the music turned up
We’re just a mess of lustful innocence
Drive a little faster, baby
And I’ll feel a little more reckless
Just let this last all night
So I can leave a love letter
In your cup holder
When we take the long way home.
soaked in summer
soft slopes of bronzed shoulders
drooping brims of straw hats
exposing watermelon pink lips
coyly smirking across the table
ringed fingers gracefully light another
deftly opening, closing, sparking
his face obscured as She blows
smoke from a glossy “o”
he subconsciously leans closer
inhales, longing for a taste
a blistering sun makes
the heat waves rise from asphalt
his nervous sweat drip steady
the ice in his bourbon melt
endless legs slowly slide and brush
hems shift and tease baring
flawlessly golden thighs
halting breath in chests
wringing clammy hands
wiping glistening brows
exhale
